Special Events

 

Each year, the Special Events Department coordinates a number of familiar fundraising events in the province like the Dancing with Celebrities gala evening of dinner and dancing highlighted by a ballroom dance competition between local celebrities. There is the Paper Egg Campaign where local retailers sell paper eggs to their customers, then display the eggs on store windows and walls and the Drop Zone event that allows people who raise the minimum pledge of $1,500 the chance to rappel down the side of a local high-rise building.

Organizing these events takes a great deal of effort and involvement. SMD Foundation/Easter Seals™ Manitoba personnel coordinate the efforts of hundreds of volunteers who generously donate their time to make activities possible. Generous sponsors and corporate partners come together to provide prizes and financial support that covers overhead costs and ensures activities and events are profitable.
