Library Services

The SMD Library is a comprehensive resource centre, providing access to a collection of materials about disabilities, accommodation needs, daily living issues and an array of related topics.

Located on the second floor of SMD's main offices at 825 Sherbrook Street in Winnipeg, the SMD Library collection consists of books, periodicals, videos, software and other materials available for loan to the public. This includes a section of children's books on disability and a software lending library for children with disabilities (primarily for preschool children or children with the development age of about 18 months - 7 years). Computer workstations are also available at the SMD Libarary to give patrons access to additional disability information via the Internet.

The SMD Library shares materials with other libraries, potentially enabling people to borrow SMD Library materials through their local libraries – and enabling SMD to borrow from other libraries as well. If you are looking for a specific item you know is available at another library, the SMD Library Technician can help make arrangements to borrow the item (though there may be a waiting period involved).
