Circulation Policy
The SMD Library operates the same way as any other library. People borrowing materials are expected to follow the rules to ensure that library materials are returned in good condition and are available for everyone.
- The SMD Library is open to all members of the public, requiring only a five dollar annual membership for Manitoba residents to help offset the overhead costs of maintaining the library (SMD consumers, volunteers, Board members and staff may access services free-of-charge).
- People can borrow books, videos, DVDs, and software for a three week period with a limit of six items per person.
- Journals and reference books may be accessed on-site only.
- Two renewals are allowed in person, by telephone or by email as long as no one else is asking for the same materials.
- People can also place their names on a waiting list to receive the item again after it has returned to the library.
- There is a fifteen cent per day, per item overdue fine on late items, up to a maximum of five dollars per item.
